About the Miami Dolphins

Team History

The Miami Dolphins were founded in 1966 as South Florida’s first major professional sports team. They quickly made history after the NFL–AFL merger, becoming the only team in league history to record a perfect season in 1972, capped off by a Super Bowl victory. Led by legendary coach Don Shula and Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino, the Dolphins established themselves as one of the NFL’s most iconic franchises.

Today, the Dolphins remain a cornerstone of the AFC East, with a loyal fan base and a tradition of exciting football in Miami Gardens.
